CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUTH AS RESOURCES (YAR) ALUMNI GRANTEES
Alumni grants are a one-time larger grant opportunity for former YAR grantees who have aged out of the YAR process and have continued to build their programs and organizations
AFRICAN DIASPORA ALLIANCE/YOUTH OF THE DIASPORA ($50,000)
www.theafricandiasporaalliance.org
The African Diaspora Alliance (ADA) was founded in 2015 by two youth community organizers who experienced firsthand the absence of African Diaspora History in school curriculum and study abroad opportunities. The Youth of the Diaspora is an after-school and summer long program where students learn African Diaspora History. Upon program completion, students are awarded with a fully funded travel opportunity. In addition to weekly educational opportunities, students are also engaged in activism, youth exchanges and community building.
TRUTH TO POWER ($25,000)
www. truthtopowerbmore.org
Truth to Power nurtures mindfulness, creativity, and activism in young people by teaching stress management and creative expression strategies, creating a space for healing and reflection that builds their level of civic engagement. “We envision a world without poverty and prisons, where black communities are not only trauma responsive but actively taking steps to heal from the impact of structural racism”.
